Starting to Dance

Enjoy watching your little one’s eyes light up as they follow Miss Stacey and ‘the big girls’ each Saturday. See their confidence grow as they master the art of skipping, make new little friendships, and discover the thrill of moving to music. Our Tiny Dancers are nurtured and encouraged in a caring environment where dancing is fun for everyone. And when our youngest performers get to showcase their newfound skills on stage, they always steal the show!

Dance Styles

Classical ballet

Introduce your child to the elegance of Classical Ballet! Within this beginner class, young dancers will learn the basic techniques, posture, and grace that form the foundation of ballet. Perfect for building strength, balance, and confidence in a fun, nurturing environment.

Tap

Let your child step into rhythm with our within this beginner class! Here, they’ll explore the basics of tap dance, focusing on coordination, timing, and footwork, all while having a blast making music with their feet.

Modern Theatre

Unlock creativity with Modern Theatre Dance as part of our Beginners class! This class introduces expressive movement and storytelling through dance, helping children develop flexibility, coordination, and stage presence in a fun, energetic atmosphere.

Classical Ballet

Step into the world of ballet with our Primary Class, where young dancers deepen their understanding of basic ballet techniques, posture, and grace. This class is designed to nurture confidence and poise while building strength and discipline in a supportive environment.

Primary Tap

Get into the groove with Primary Tap! Perfect for beginners ready to advance, this class focuses on rhythmic patterns, timing, and dynamic footwork, giving students the tools to develop their coordination and musicality while having a blast.

Modern Theatre

Unleash creativity in our Modern Theatre Primary Class! Young dancers will learn foundational movements and expressive techniques that bring stories to life, developing flexibility, coordination, and self-expression on stage.

Classical Ballet

Our Juniors enjoy a non syllabus Ballet lesson on Saturdays. This gives them the opportunity to explore steps and movements beyond their syllabus grade. We also have fun dancing is sequence, taking partners, and exploring musical patterns. We continue to build on the very basics of Ballet, always returning to turnout, posture, pointed toes, soft arm shapes, and strong leg muscles. Children attending these classes will be trained to a high standard, and may opt to take a Ballet exam syllabus class during the week.

Tap

Our Tap Dance Classes follow the ISTD syllabus which combines the deep history with the very latest rhythms and artists. Our dance family shares a love for tap, and as they progress through our Junior school they have the opportunity to take their first tap exam. They love hearing their feet dance and really connect to the music and rhythms in this dynamic dance genre.

Modern Dance

At Tina’s Dance Studios, we have lots of fun using our imagination whilst building strength and technique. As our pupils progress through the school, our Modern classes offer excellent training and the skills to enable them to progress to a very high standard and embrace lots of other dance classes that are open to seniors which include Lyrical, Jazz and Commercial. Our Juniors may opt to take their first Modern exam, and we are very proud to hold a 100% pass rate; further recognition of the high standards our children happily attain.

National Dance

Our National department is very unique and one we are very proud of. We have an excellent examination record and this is attributed to our student’s attitude to exploring dance styles from many different countries. We study dances from around the world and the contributing factors to that particular style and culture. Miss Stacey was very honoured to be asked to write an article for the ISTD to elaborate on how the National faculty and classes have enriched our school.

Acro & Jazz Combined

We introduce our Juniors to Acrobatic Arts and Jazz Dance on Saturdays. This combination class starts with a stamina building warmup followed by stretches and techniques to improve flexibility, strength and posture. They enjoy corner work combinations and a Jazz routine varying in style each week. Alongside building physical strength, the students are pushed to try more complex skills with the aim of trusting themselves to go above and beyond. Miss Roanne is constantly pushing the students to further their skills and surprise themselves with their abilities. Students’ confidence flourishes in the encouraging environment during these classes by gaining support from not only from their teachers, but also their classmates.

Musical Theatre

This class is a fun all round singing and dancing class, learning routines from varying musicals. The class covers a variety of musical styles and eras, allowing students to develop their character interpretation and stage presence. Each term the children will be studying 2 contrasting musicals which places emphasis on their sense of performance.

Jazz and Commercial

This Jazz Dance class is a fast paced high energy session which focuses on jazz technique and performance. In each class here at Tina’s Dance Studios, we conduct a stamina building warmup followed by stretches and techniques to improve flexibility, strength and posture. We do many corner work combinations to again improve technique, strength and coordination. Each class always concludes with a jazz routine varying in style each week. The aim behind this is to improve the students’ pick up skills and performance techniques.

Acrobatic Arts

Juniors and higher are able to attend Acrobatic Arts classes at Tina’s Dance Studios to strengthen their skills and improve their confidence. Alongside building physical strength, the students are pushed to try more complex skills with the aim of trusting themselves to go above and beyond. Miss Mollie is constantly pushing the students to further their skills and surprise themselves with their abilities. Students’ confidence flourishes in the encouraging environment during these classes by gaining support not only from their teachers, but also their classmates.

Musical Theater

This class is a fun all round singing and dancing class, learning routines from varying musicals. Our Musical Theater dance classes cover a variety of musical styles and eras, allowing students to develop their character interpretation and stage presence. Each term the students will be studying 2 contrasting musicals which places emphasis on their performance while learning the fundamental techniques in each discipline.

Classical Ballet

Our Transitions Classes have a non syllabus Ballet lesson on Saturdays. This dance session provides an opportunity for students to explore steps and movements beyond the syllabus grade. In this ballet class, we have fun dancing in sequence, taking partners and exploring musical patterns. Children attending these classes will be trained to a high standard, and may opt to take a Ballet exam syllabus class during the week.

Tap

For learning Tap Dance, Tina’s Dance Studios follow ISTD syllabus that combines the deep history with the latest rhythms and artists. We share our love for tap with our students through teaching them the important backstory of each technique and exercise. Our talented tap teachers guide them through the fascinating rhythms of tap dance.

Modern Dance

The Modern classes at Tina’s Dance Studios focus on skill building and training which enables them to excel to a higher standard. This also allows them to explore and embrace different dance classes that are offered to senior level such as Lyrical, Jazz and Commercial. Using our vast knowledge of modern dance, we enhance students’ technique and strength in the most exciting way possible, fostering confidence needed for them to shine on and off stage.

Jazz

Here at Tina’s Dance Studios, our Jazz Dance Classes are designed to improve flexibility, strength and posture by conducting stamina building exercises and stretches. Each week the children enjoy building up a dance routine to enhance pupils’ pick up skills and coordination. Our teachers carefully select music tracks and dance moves to be challenging but age appropriate – our young superstars enjoy giving their all!

Acrobatic Arts

The students in our Acrobatic Classes at Tina’s Dance Studios are encouraged to try more complex skills. The movements being taught in this class are not easy, but with the guidance of Miss Mollie, we nurture pupils’ potential, showing them just what they can achieve through persistence and determination in an encouraging and supportive environment. They always cheer each other on when a classmate nails a new skill!

Musical Theatre

The Musical Theatre Classes here at Tina’s Dance Studios delve into a variety of musical styles and eras, helping students to develop character interpretation and stage presence. From learning dance routines and singing different genres of music, students get to tap into their potential to be well-rounded artists, setting them up for success for their chosen field in the future.

Classical Ballet

Miss Tina delivers Saturday afternoon Ballet Masterclasses for our Seniors and Prefects. Within these classes students are trained to pick up free work, often beyond their current grade, to give them a taste of what is to come. The emphasis is on exploration of movement with enjoyment and challenge, and students are encouraged to push themselves physically to gain stamina and strength. Music choice is classically based, and includes adaptations from Classical Ballet, Film and TV, Musicals and Pop songs. Every Saturday class is different, and often includes pointwork. It is during our Saturday classes that we build our strong community foundation, as pupils from various grade classes are merged together to lead and inspire. Our ISTD Graded syllabus classes take place during the week to further hone technique and gain recognised qualifications in Imperial Classical Ballet.

Tap

Tap Dance has such a rich history making it so relatable and relevant to today’s technique. We are very proud to teach ISTD tap throughout our school. The syllabus has combined the deep history with the very latest rhythms and artists to create a very powerful progression of technical challenge which our pupils love!

As our seniors progress through the school the technique becomes more intricate and the fascinating rhythms are a pleasure to teach. Our teachers have a wonderful passion for tap and love teaching the students the backstory of many techniques and exercises…. Brenda Buffalino, Gene Kelly, Anne Miller to mention a few.

Modern Dance

As our students progress through the school our Modern classes offer excellent training and the skills to enable them to reach a very high standard and embrace lots of other dance classes that are open to seniors which include Lyrical, Jazz and Commercial. We are very proud to hold a 100% pass rate with our Intermediate students who are now studying at Vocational level.

Jazz and Commercial

This class is a fast paced high energy session which focuses on Jazz technique and performance. In each class Miss Jen conducts a stamina building warmup followed by stretches and techniques to improve flexibility, strength and posture. Students do many corner work combinations to again improve technique, strength and coordination. Each class always concludes with a Jazz routine varying in style weekly. The aim behind this is to improve the students pick up skills and performance techniques. Our Seniors work super hard during their Jazz classes!

National Dance

Our National department is very unique and one we are very proud of.

We have an excellent examination record and this is attributed to our student’s attitude to exploring dance styles from many different countries.

We study dances from around the world and the contributing factors to that particular style and culture. The technique is often more relaxed, and our Seniors enjoy learning the history behind each dance and the social aspect of this traditional dance genre.

Acrobatic Arts

At Tina’s Dance Studios, our Acrobatic Classes push students to try more complex skills at the same time fostering trust within themselves. Every routine not only hones their dancing abilities but more importantly fosters their confidence within themselves. Miss Roanne guides these classes, nurturing every individual’s potential and talent for the art of movement.

Extra Curricular

Each term Miss Tina likes to switch things up for our Seniors and Prefects so they get a taste of something new to excite them. Our latest class to be introduced by Miss Roanne is PBT (Progressing Ballet Technique) and they are loving it!

Lyrical Dance – This is a performance based class designed to help the students develop their lyrical style. We focus on learning new choreography and how to connect with the music through our dancing. We also work on creativity and improvisation and how to interpret the given music, building confidence and performance techniques.

Heels Class -This class is open to our Prefects and Sub Prefects to gain some experience of dancing in heels before they start auditioning. The routines are for our advanced students only, as they require strong technique and core to perform in this exciting class.

Body Conditioning – Miss Stacey puts our serious students through their paces in this class. It’s a dance orientated circuit training session, working on muscle groups, strength and stamina. The pay off is obvious as they improve all round in every dance genre following a term in this class.

Workshops

Each term we arrange a Workshop for our Seniors and Prefects with an industry professional. This opens our students up to new things with a guest teacher, and broadens their horizons. They always impress our visiting pro, and it gives them a chance to ask questions and take advice for their own dance journey.

We always concludes with a Jazz routine varying in style weekly, to improve the students pick up skills and performance techniques. Our Prefects are extremely talented and their bodies very capable of taking on rigorous and challenging routines that give the Wow Factor! Friday night jazz is one the favourite classes of our Prefects.

National Dance

Our National department is very unique and one we are very proud of. Studying age old folk dance steps and styles from around the world links our Prefects’ knowledge of dance today with its roots. The technique is often more relaxed, and ancient rhythms can be both complex and primal. Our Prefects enjoy learning the history behind each dance and the social aspect of this traditional dance genre.

Acrobatic Arts

The Acrobatic Arts classes at this level, offer thrilling routines for students ready for advanced training. We train our Prefects to achieve their aerials, fostering trust within themselves to take their dancing abilities to the next level. With our expert guidance we nuture every individual’s potential and skills for the art of motion.

We love to nurture and develop our little dancers as they begin their dance journey. In this wonderful dance space here at Tina’s Dance Studios we encourage our little dancers using the power of imagination, props and music! Our tiny dancers love to express themselves (and tell Miss Stacey all about their week!) We have lots of fun whilst learning about rhythm, lines and above all – making friends!

Ballet, Tap and Modern
Combined Class

We love to nurture and develop our little dancers as they continue their dance journey into Primary class. They enjoy our wonderful dance space here at Tina’s Dance Studios as well as our creativity, as we develop their love for dance using imagination, props and music. In Primary classes we explore more technical steps and those children wanting more than once a week may join us on Wednesdays to start practising for their very first dance exam!

Plan Your Dance Journey

Our young dancers are scheduled a 45 minute lesson to introduce them to Ballet, Tap and Modern Dance. We find that this is as long as they can properly concentrate at this stage and they leave the studios smiling and inspired.

Uniform Requirements

Look the Part, Dance Your Best

To ensure a professional and cohesive look, dancers are required to wear uniform leotards and shoes.
Our Beginners girls wear royal blue skirted leotards, pink leather ballet shoes, and sparkly red tap shoes.
Boys wear navy blue shorts and white T-shirt unitard with black shoes. All items can be purchased at our on-site dancewear shop or ordered directly from our online Dancestore. New children may wear any comfy clothing they can easily move around in during their trial period. We suggest at 3 week trial before purchasing uniform. Parents often donate outgrown uniform which is kept in the cupboard in the changing room - all these items are free of charge.

Performance Opportunities

Shine in the Spotlight

Tina’s Dance Studios offer a platform, specifically our biennial Dance show, where students get to perform and show their acquired dance abilities and skills to the world. This fosters their confidence on and off stage. Our youngest cast members absolutely love dressing up in their costumes, and the excitement of live performance is thrilling. And naturally, our little ones always bring the house down!

Layla has attended Miss Tina’s since she was a tot. It has been lovely to watch her develop over the years and looking forward to many more years. All the teachers are fantastic as are the pupils who help out.
